Thank you so much to those who have checked out my blog so far! I have always been a very private person about my sewing…so I REALLY appreciate all of the love! As promised, I will continue to share some of my archives throughout this journey. (Btw it is REALLY hot outside here in Texas… and going outside is not fun for taking pictures (and my husband is in working on his photography skills…so pardon the shadows 🙂 !!!)
I found the fabric for my skirt at Joann’s fabric. It was pretty pricey for Joann’s..but with a coupon was about $14/yd. I purchased 3 yards. I used pattern Vogue 8882 View E. I made a few revisions…I added a horsehair braid to the hem to give the hem more body. In addition I added pockets (one of my favs…Carolina Herrera puts pockets in her full skirts…)
(Btw…I also painted the painting in the background :))
The top was one of my best recovery projects YET! It started as a gathered full skirt. Although the skirt was cute…it was sort of “cupcake” and weighed about 10 lbs.
I ripped the skirt and was able to salvage this AMAZING fabric! It was $4.00/yd at Hancock Fabric…and I only had about 2.5 really good yards that I could use (it was a lot buy of salvaged fabric…serious score as similar fabric can retail for $40/yd). The top was a very basic body and I added snaps for the closure.
Let me know what you think!
COMING SOON… fabric from my recent trip to LA from Michael Levine’s fabric store and a skirt from some gifted fabric…
