Yesterday was the first day of MAGIC August 2014 (we only briefly walked the show today)…
According to one of my really good girlfriends…”Las Vegas is a judge free zone”. People really can wear and do whatever they please…and they do! It is so entertaining to see what the men and women wear as they walk the aisles of the Casinos floors and the strip! I could people watch for hours in this place. I, on the other hand, chose to be comfortable in this scorching heat of over 100 degrees! I love the way that this dress turned out.
The fabric is a SUPER soft ponte’ knit fabric (purchased on my recent trip to LA from Michael Levine’s fabric). I actually took the last 3 yards left in the store! Funny story was that I had it in my shopping pile and then all of sudden it was gone! It was a MAD hunt with the associates to find this fabric in the midst of all of the chaos. Nevertheless, I did not give up! Here are some similar styles FABRIC 1 and FABRIC 2.
A few details on the dress… I started with Simplicity Pattern 2054 View B. I cut this dress fully as per the pattern. When I tried on the dress it was extremely frumpy. I even had to take it in about 1″ each side. Even after taking it in, I decided to split the top along the waist line to add more definition to the waist. Then I cut the bottom as if I were cutting for a circle skirt and applied it to the bottom of the dress. I was extremely satisfied with the outcome of my applications to this pattern versus the original.
