January was an extremely busy month for my family and me. We had several birthdays, family functions, and kid’s activities every weekend. There was hardly anytime to sew. For a quick DIY and update to some jeans that I found at H&M on sale for $7.00, this was the perfect “in between sewing” project. By the way, I did not find out about the price surprise until I checked out at the register…score!
I wanted to turn these jeans up a notch and at $7.00, I could afford to take a chance. (BTW…I really love how these jeans fit!!) My supply list was simple: jeans, an old tarnished pearl necklace, leftover rhinestones from my previous DIY HERE, and some purchased pearls and iron-on rhinestones (cost $7.00). I would also recommend that you use a beading needle. In a nutshell the entire DIY project cost less than $15.00 (seriously!). I found a similar jean online for almost $130.00.
(I opted out of using the black beads.)
Simple Instructions: 1) Cuff the denim 2 inches and then again 2 inches (iron in place). 2) Stitch the cuff in place 3) If you choose to use iron-ons…apply those first. Follow the instructions included with your iron-ons. 4) Choose a pattern for your rhinestones and/or beads. Sew them in place. 5) Style your look fabulously!
I highly recommend this project for someone who does not own a sewing machine and wants to refashion some inexpensive or old jeans or in need of a quick project. Be sure to add enough beads and rhinestones to make it really shine (and look more expensive)…in my opinion the more, the better!
