I had a great time this past weekend with a soccer and a baseball game for my kids and I attended an amazing charity event benefitting the American Thyroid Cancer Association (hosted by jewelry designer Rasheeda Turner of Qi Designs) with my husband. After such a great weekend, I thought that this would be the perfect time to share this dress that I have had in my closet for a while (and never worn)!
I took these awesome pictures with Nnene from @mywalletmystyle. She and I met at the Houston Fashion Blogger Holiday party and started chatting over how difficult it is as busy mom bloggers and getting pictures taken! Usually when I take pictures…I have about 15 minutes to get everything in and I feel rushed. The kids are usually banging on the door in the house watching my husband and I take pictures outside. Outside of my neighborhood, I choose locations where my kids can play while we take pictures. I also take pictures with one of my cousins.
Nevertheless, Nnene approached me about taking pictures as she wants to expand her fashion blogging into photography. I thought that this was a great opportunity for both of us to test out some pictures. I am showing some of my favorite shots from our shoot in my green maxi dress.
It was a VERY windy, humid day and my hair is much bigger than I like…but I made it work! I kept my look light and breezy with flips flops, sunglasses (to hold back my hair from the wind) and light weight earrings. In regards to the dress, I made a few changes to the pattern (Simplicity 1939). I added width to the bodice to have more gathers and added length to the bodice length. I added length to the hem. I also cut out shoulder holes.
I hope that you had a great weekend! Please let me know your thoughts.
