The weather is muy caliente and an off-the-shoulder top is una necesidad! As you might have noticed, this silhouette has been my style of choice for this sizzling, hot weather!
And why not pair it with a pair of cool culottes?
I purchased the fabric for this outfit last year while in LA for the Mimi G Sewing Conference. The fabric was purchased at Michael Levine’s. I could not find the exact fabric online, but here is a link to the darker color HERE. I purchased 3 1/2 yards of the fabric. When I purchased it, I had no real plans. I am glad that I saved it for this project! For the top I used McCalls M6558 View A. I omitted the lower ruffle. The extra layer, for this look was too much. (STYLE TIP: Since the culottes were extremely full…which adds bulk, I wanted to balance off the top half with a cropped top showing the shoulders. It creates a nice overall balance.) For the culottes, I used McCalls M7131 View D. I cut and stitched as per the pattern. The tencel fabric has just the right amount of flow and drape.
I styled the look with a hat that I found at Forever 21 on sale for $6.99 (unbeknownst to me until I checked out…SCORE!). The shoes are the perfect neutral shade of pink that matches perfectly with the earrings and necklace.
