It’s no secret that I am a HUGE fan of a good shirtdress! I found this one at one my favorite stores recently.
With my oldest in kindergarten and a super active three year old, my schedule has been EXTREMELY busy! I can’t seem to keep my head above water with my projects and other things that are going on around me. While I play catchup on my Fall sewing I thought that I would share a little off-the-rack situation. The dress and the blazer were bought on sale at Banana Republic. I love the ease of the dress (which is why I am so addicted to shirtdresses!). The blazer was a necessary update for my wardrobe. I mixed the two base pieces with a pop of the red patent shoe and blue handbag. I love this combination!
For my sewing compadres…if you were interested in sewing your own, I would suggest McCalls pattern M6613 (HERE) VIEW D or Simplicity 1279 (HERE). Depending on your height, you may need to extend the length of either of the shirt patterns a few inches. Cut two semi-circles (different lengths) to make the flounce for the front and the back. Cut a panel that will extend from the front of the shirt. Attach the shorter semi-circle and panel to the front and the longer semi-cirle to the back….and you should have something very similar:)! For fabric, a shirting fabric would be ideal. Here are some great options (that are on some on SALE, too)…HERE, HERE.
If you were wondering what I am doing with my hair…I am working on getting my curl pattern back (so that I can do more “wash-n-go’s”). After years of flat ironing and coloring my hair, my hair has lost most of its curl. I am using rollers on my hair to hopefully train my hair to curl again…we will see!
Well…I gotta go sew! Have a GREAT weekend!
