I am so excited to see what 2016 will bring both personally and professionally! Before we head into the New Year, I wanted to share the projects that I started and finished this past year in 2015. Despite normal life’s highs and lows in this year, I managed to push through and push the pendulum a little further than I ever have before! I am so THANKFUL to everyone that has supported my blog and attributed to its growth! Here is my 2015 catalog:Hands down…my TOP THREE creations for 2015 were mycapelet jumpsuit, my ReD finale dress, and my unconventional magazine and penny look! All three were created during the Pretty Girls Sew sewing competition where I was a contestant. Blog post HERE.
If you can’t tell…..MUSTARD and MAGENTA were some of my favorite colors this year. I made the wrap dress (center) for the McCall Pattern Company wrap dress sewalong HERE. (Speaking of colors, I just realized that I went through a series of hair changing colors this year as well! …lol).
One of the things that I am most proud of has been the successful launch of the ThReD and Needles sewing group as of July of this year. I have had so much fun sewing with some AMAZINGLY, TALENTED sewist. There are so many talented sewist in the group of all levels. The dresses shown above were two of our many monthly projects (the wrapdress and the shirtdress).
I had a SERIOUS off-the-shoulder moment this year with two patterns….McCall’s M7163 and M6558. I tried to think of every possible spin on this look…shirt…dress…crop top…the list goes on! I predict that I will be pulling these patterns again in 2016 as well.
I wore so many hats this year (both literally and figuratively …blogger, Mama, wife, full time worker, sewing competitor, etc)… All of which I was SO proud of this year. But trying to juggle all of that…caused a lot of gray hairs! I needed something to help cover my unsightly new growth and fresh gray hairs. Why not add a little pizazz with a hat?
Two other things that happened for ReDpants Designs is that I participated as one of the six bloggers in a “Build Your Wardrobe” series created by Ms. Crafty Chic. My week’s focus was on the pencil skirt (shown above on the far left). The other thing is the Pretty Girls Sew February edition HERE that I was featured in showing how to make the skirt below.
I am so excited to see what’s in store for the New Year. So what are my goals for 2016? I am a firm believer that if you write your goals down…they become reality. By writing them down, I become accountable for making them happen!
Here are my goals for 2016: 1) My 40th birthday is quickly approaching in 2017. I have a personal fitness/health goal of losing 40 lbs before turning 40….this is my #1 goal! 2) Secondly, I want to see ReDpants grow into more than just a blog. I have so many ideas that I was not able to execute this year. I predict that in 2016 I will be able to get more of those ideas executed. 3) I look forward to more group projects from the ThReD and Needles Group. 4) Lastly, but certainly not least, I want to continue to develop and perfect my craft. Some of my key focuses for 2016 are going to be the blazer and the button-up shirt.
I am so ready for a fresh, positive start in 2016!
I hope that you accomplish all that you set out for in the upcoming year. What are some of your resolutions?
