For the month of February, the members of the ThReD and Needles sewing group were given the challenge to make “lingerie as daywear”. A risky, scary, out-of-the-norm style that has come in and out of style over the years. This year, several designers showed their versions and take-downs of this trend for Spring and Pre-Fall 2016.
One of my favorites was this Victoria Beckham from her Pre-Fall 2016 collection.
Here is my version…
I used Lisette Butterick pattern HERE. The fabric was purchased in New York a few years ago..but I have also seen it at Gorgeous Fabrics. It is a beautiful silk lightweight woven. I accented the print with a solid burgundy colored crepe. The pattern recommended using purchased piping. I made my own with scrap silk striped fabric…I had just enough for all the piping. I made a few adjustments to the pattern. I added about 8 inches to the back panel and shortened the pants.
TOP and BOTTOM: Butterick B6296 HERE | SHOES: Alexander Wang |
EARRINGS: Bauble Bar similar HERE
I styled it with the pants and then with jeans for some versatility. Great Idea if you are nervous about full commitment to the trend!
HANDBAG: Banana Republic similar HERE | SHOES: Steve Madden HERE
What do you think? Is this a trend you might try?
I will be posting the amazing work of the other ladies VERY soon (including the STASH FABRIC challenge from last month). Please stay tuned.
