The group project for the month of April/May was all about creating the “not your average classic white shirt”. Some details that we played with were adding some sleeve interest, adding a peplum, adding an oversized bow, and creating the perfect tunic. Check out the projects from the women in the ThReD and Needles sewing group HERE.
The inspiration for my shirt was a Rosie Assoulin dress. I love the details of the sleeve mixed with the shirtdress.
I made my piece by combining two patterns. I used the sleeve from Vogue V8945 and Butterick B6294 the shirtdress View B (omitting the sleeves of course). The other change that I made was adding the peep hole at the top of the sleeve. The fabric is a simple cotton poplin that I found locally. I added lace to the longest part of the sleeve.
I would love to get your thoughts!
