I took a trip earlier this year to San Francisco to visit friends. I had a full day of fabric and notions shopping. While visiting, I picked up a pattern from this cute little fabric store in the Piedmont area.
The pattern that I picked up was from Decades of Style (a pattern company based out of Berkeley, CA). They have some pretty cool vintage inspired patterns. The pattern that I purchased was this beautiful wrap top HERE. I will be using this pattern again and again in the near future. However, I will NEVER cut this pattern in velvet again! I will admit that velvet (along with tulle) is not favorite fabric to use. The thing that I dislike most about velvet is how it rolls at the edges when you hem it. I had a difficult time selecting the right binding for the edges. The best choice was some scrap lining fabric cut on the bias. I love how it turned out once I got the binding right.
What are your least favorite fabrics? Do you like velvet??? Let me know what you think.
