Not only am I a lover of sewing, I also love crafting and jewelry making. I just posted a new YouTube video showing step by step how to make these tiered tassel earrings. You can check out my video HERE.
The thing that I love most about jewelry making is that I can do it anywhere and with minimal supplies. I first started making jewelry my freshman year in college. We had the cutest store down the street from my dorm called Paper Bear. You could go there and pick out the findings, jewels, beads and tools and make jewelry right there in the store. Since I love crafting so much, I took it up as a full time hobby and have been making jewelry since. I have sort of taken a break from jewelry making, but I am recently finding my way back.
Just as in my sewing, I see expensive jewelry in the marketplace and know that I can make it myself. The following are a few examples of similar styles sold at retail.
(above) EARRINGS: Oscar De La Renta – retail for $450.00
(above) EARRINGS: Bauble Bar – retail for $48.00
The following is a cost breakdown of what my earrings cost per pair:
The glue was actually already in my stash which would be bring the cost of goods down even further. In comparison to the earrings in the market, I show a savings of $30.00 or more!
Take a look at my video HERE and try and make your own pair. If you do, please TAG me on Instagram.
