It has been a while since we last spoke! I was in a bit of a sew-funk for a while. I find myself in that space when I have so many ideas and so little time. I hate starting a project knowing that I can’t work non-stop on it. I often choose to just not work on anything. Well I hope that my funk is over with this little number…
I have been obsessing this season over anything “bomber jacket” or “sweatsuit”. If you have had a chance to check out my YouTube channel (HERE), I mentioned in one of my fabric hauls that the bomber jacket would be top of my list for Fall/Winter 2017. The bomber is a very classic silhouette that makes it’s way to collections season after season. This season was no exception. The tracksuit is back in do many different forms and styles. Designers showed the silhouette with updated details. Converting the jacket to an off-the-shoulder was a no brainer! For the top I used Beaute Jadore’s McCall’s M7636 pattern. I love the sleeve details in this pattern. I did make some modifications to make to add my own twist. Would you like to see a YouTube video on this modification?
- Cut the shoulder line of the top of the original pattern front and back pieces.
- Same modifications made for the shell were also made for the lining. The lining was cut exactly as the shell.
- Omitted the inside facing of the jacket.
- Added two inches to the sleeve length to allow for more drape at the wrist.
For the pants, I used McCall’s M7576 view A. The pant pattern was extremely easy and I will probably be making a few more versions of this pant. The fabric is a midweight polyester crepe fabric by Marc Jacobs that I purchased at Mood Fabrics last year which worked PERFECTLY for this project. I love that I can wear each of the pieces separately as well.

So what do you think about my remix of the bomber classic?
