For the month of February the ThReD and Needles group focused on African print fabrics. Most of the ladies used waxed cotton or Kente cloth fabrics. Both are known for their beautiful, brilliant colors and patterns. The timing of the February project was just in time for Black History Month. The ladies in the group did an AMAZING job this month. One of the group members even made car accessories out of African fabric! Please check out the group’s page HERE.
What are your thoughts on the pom-pom trend this Spring/Summer? I think that the trend is great…but it is just that, a trend! It’s definitely not a trend worth investing a great deal of money. I am showing how I made my designer inspired, re-fashioned pom-pom shoes.
In addition to sewing, I am an all-around DIYer. I make ottomans, paint, cross-stitch, and dabble in jewelry making! When I shop and see things that I really like (home, accessories, apparel, etc) I always question if I can make it myself. These shoes from Jeffrey Campbell caught my eye and struck me as a quick and easy DIY…a nice little sparkler to add to my wardrobe. I am not much of a “bedazzler” nor am I a “sneaker chick”…but this was a must project!
