For the month of February the ThReD and Needles group focused on African print fabrics. Most of the ladies used waxed cotton or Kente cloth fabrics. Both are known for their beautiful, brilliant colors and patterns. The timing of the February project was just in time for Black History Month. The ladies in the group did an AMAZING job this month. One of the group members even made car accessories out of African fabric! Please check out the group’s page HERE.
Velvet was one of the hottest fabrics this Fall/Winter 16 season. The ThReD and Needles sewing group focused on making a look out of velvet fabric for the months of November and December. Please check out all of the projects HERE. Also, check out all of the projects for 2016. Continue reading
The members of the ThReD and Needles group slayed the leather challenge for October! We had some beyond impressive submissions of accessories that could rival the most expensive luxury brands as well as some great apparel entries! Check out the project submissions HERE.
The color black is one of the most essential, sophisticated, daring, and bold colors that a girl could own in her closet. Personally, I am guilty of neglecting the color in my sewing projects and opting for the brightest, most printed fabrics. I tend to forget how important it is to have that perfect black item in your closet. For the months of August and September, the ThReD and Needles were challenged to sew a head-to-toe, all black everything look . Please check out the awesome projects HERE Continue reading
What I love about Summer is that fashion is easy and lightweight for the warmer weather. This simplicity translates into simple, chic designs for the season as well. For the month of July, the ThReD and Needles group focused on the “exposed shoulder”. We had submissions for off-the-shoulder, peek-a-boo, and cold shoulder designs. This month we had a lot of participation in the group. Please check out the EXPOSED SHOULDER projects from July HERE.
Oh my gosh! We had AMAZING participation with this month’s challenge!!! The challenge for the month of June was STRIPES for the ThReD and Needle sewing group. We had a wide range of stripe fabrics and design varieties. Stripes ranged from abstract to chevron to variegated to animal stripes…all of them absolutely beautiful!
Check out the projects from all of the ladies this month HERE.
