Not only am I a lover of sewing, I also love crafting and jewelry making. I just posted a new YouTube video showing step by step how to make these tiered tassel earrings. You can check out my video HERE.
I just celebrated my 20 year high school class reunion this past weekend. We had three days of mixing and mingling with classmates. Some of my former classmates that I had not seen since we crossed the stage to get our diplomas. It was an unforgettable weekend! Of course, I had several plans for what I was going to wear for each event…
I think that I have a new crush…this skirt! The skirt was created for the Rippin’ Ain’t Easy Sewing COLOR BLOCKING challenge for Round 3. Please vote for my look Saturday, April 11th starting at 8am-8pm CST. Vote for RUQAYYAH. Please click on the link HERE to vote.
January was an extremely busy month for my family and me. We had several birthdays, family functions, and kid’s activities every weekend. There was hardly anytime to sew. For a quick DIY and update to some jeans that I found at H&M on sale for $7.00, this was the perfect “in between sewing” project. By the way, I did not find out about the price surprise until I checked out at the register…score!
It’s finally here! I am so excited to announce that ReDpants Designs is now featured in Pretty Girls Sew’s February 2015 issue (click HERE). I submitted my entry in September, only four months after starting my blog. When I found out that my entry was accepted…I was BEYOND excited!
In addition to sewing, I am an all-around DIYer. I make ottomans, paint, cross-stitch, and dabble in jewelry making! When I shop and see things that I really like (home, accessories, apparel, etc) I always question if I can make it myself. These shoes from Jeffrey Campbell caught my eye and struck me as a quick and easy DIY…a nice little sparkler to add to my wardrobe. I am not much of a “bedazzler” nor am I a “sneaker chick”…but this was a must project!

The year 2014 has been a fabulous one for me! For starters, in July of this year, I attended the Mimi G Sewing and Style conference in Los Angeles, CA. Feeling inspired, after attending the conference, I launched my blog for ReDpants Designs. Releasing my fears of judgement and criticism, I braved social media to put my obsession for fashion and sewing on display.
Each season I plan my sewing projects based on inspirations and fabric. Winter in Texas is always a sewing challenge as the season is so short-lived. This particular coat has been on my project priority list for a few weeks and I wanted to complete it before the Christmas holiday.
