I am not ashamed to admit that I have avoided making my own denim jeans. There were several reasons why I did not want to make my own jeans. My biggest fear was making jeans that looked home sewn. Secondly, I thought “why would I waste time sewing my own when jeans are so readily available in the market place. Also, appropriately adjusting the tension on my machine get the best, neatest stitches. When the ladies in the ThReD and Needles sewing group wanted to make Denim for October, this was the perfect opportunity to get over this fear.
For the ThReD and Needles August project, I decided to make two shirtdresses! The challenge was to create a shirtdress of your choice (woven or knit). You could use any pattern of your choice. It took a while for me to decide on the pattern to use…
I am so excited to finally share this shirtdress for the ThReD and Needles group project. (I will be posting another one with the rest of the group on Monday.) I made the dress using a mix of fabrics already in my stash…the printed fabric is silk twill, the Glen plaid is wool/rayon blend, and the back panel is a cotton shirting. Continue reading
Summer is the time to sew easy simple silhouettes. Here in Texas…the weather is so hot…that tight and restricted silhouettes would be painful! I wanted to make a few easy pieces that I could wear in this type of weather. I decided to give McCall’s pattern M7163 one more run…check out the other versions HERE and HERE.

As I mentioned in my last post…I just had my 20 year high school class reunion. For those of you that follow my Instagram site, you might have seen me post a picture wearing this outfit with my husband.
